This lot is part of a North Carolina collection and have descended to the consignors from their father’s estate. The family has stated that their father started collecting in the early 1960’s, and that his collecting was focused in the late 1960’s and 1970’s, after his company went public. He bought primarily from the dealer Mattias Komor in New York. The family has stated that these objects were likely acquired during that period, though receipts were not retained. Their father’s collecting had largely ceased by 1980, and the objects were certainly in their father’s possession in North Carolina prior to 1984, the date of Mattias Komor’s death.
The family has agreed to provide successful bidders with a signed statement attesting to the provenance of these pieces.
