Emporium and Premier Auctions

Our Emporium Auctions feature more accessible offerings that will appeal to both the novice collector and connoisseur alike. The array of objects presented for sale at Emporium Auctions is sure to please buyers of all budgets and interests.
Prior to each sale we publish a print and digital catalog that features all the items included in the auction. Descriptions and auction estimates accompany an image of each ‘lot.’ A lot may refer to a single item or to a group of items. The catalog includes condition notes for each lot as well as terms of sale for the auction. Contact information and time and dates of the public preview and auction are specified in the catalog.
Show and Tell
Auction previews are a perfect opportunity to inspect each lot and meet our specialists. We encourage you to look and touch, read the condition reports, and ask questions! Previews are a delightful way to connect with our specialists and other collectors who may share your interests. On occasion, connoisseurship lectures are presented at previews by our specialists on a particular work, artist, or genre.
With multiple online bidding platforms, phone, absentee, and in-person bidding, we welcome a global audience to our auction gallery. We provide easy and ample bidding formats –one of which is sure to appeal to you.
Prospective bidders will need to register either online or in person for a bidding number. If you are in the gallery for the sale, our staff will issue you a numbered card with which you can bid. Familiarize yourself with the bidding increments and prepare to hold your ‘paddle’ high for the auctioneer to see and acknowledge your bid.
If you are unable to attend an auction, you may bid on one of several online platforms, submit an absentee bid form prior to the auction, or have a member of our staff bid over the phone with you on your behalf. To arrange for phone bidding, please contact our staff one week before the auction. Absentee bid and phone bid forms are available here.
As each lot comes up for sale, it is displayed on the gallery screen. Bidding typically starts at one-half of the low estimate of the lot as listed in the catalog. Consider the maximum amount you want to pay and continue bidding until your bid prevails or you reach your limit. If your bid is the final bid, the auctioneer will bring down the hammer, indicating that the lot is sold to you.
Each final bid is subject to a Buyer’s Premium. This premium is added to your winning bid and constitutes the purchase price. Applicable sales taxes are added to this figure and the total will become your final purchase price. All sales are final and subject to our Terms of Sale found in each catalog here. You may pay by cash, check, or bank wire transfer.
Shipping and Removal
Following the auction, all purchases must be paid for and collected within five business days. We will be happy to assist you in making arrangements for the packing, shipping, and/or transportation of your property.
