Mason./Taunton. under hammer, metal barrel bands marked "U", butt tang marked "US", iron ramrod, two cartouches on left flat, top of barrel by nipple marked "1863", barrel is marked "VP" on left side, firing mechanism appears to work

metal with dark grey/brown patina, rust to nipple, wood surface with numerous marring, scratches, dents and gouges
