William and Mary Green Painted Chest with Drawer

Long Island, New York, circa 1750, paneled gumwood case with hinged lid and open interior, over single dovetailed long drawer, on removable trestle form legs with turned front feet, in early pale blue paint, 32-3/4 x 42-3/4 x 20-1/2 in.

very good condition overall, probably original paint (likely dry scraped or taken down to current layer), some paint retouch at front panels, shadow from batwing escutcheon (now removed), typical minor wear and abrasions especially at edges and moldings, appears to retain original engraved brasses
