View Along the Pearl River at Canton; The Hongs at Canton, both circle of Spoilum, circa 1800-1803, oil on canvas, 15-1/2 x 23 in.; gilt and ebonized frame set with leaf and scroll carved and gilt spandrels, 44-3/4 x 25 in.

Condition:

paintings lined and restretched on old stretchers, later erroneous inscriptions verso canvas, crackle, stretcher marks, retouch at repairs approximately affecting 10% or less of surface mostly in sky, some small points of flaking at edges, some possible overcleaning on Spanish flag at left; mirror plates with extensive scratches and distress to silvering, resurfacing to frame with losses and possible restorations to carved spandrels
