Very Fine Pair Adam Carved Gilt Mirrored Sconces
British, late 18th century, with urn tops over bellflower chains, centering oval mirror plates, resting on dolphin figural supports over double candle arms, 39 x 14 in.
Provenance:Max Weber Antiques, Middleton, Massachusetts, purchased February 1969 for $4,100 (accompanied by original receipt); The Estate of William N. Banks, Jr., Newnan, Georgia
Condition:
in very fine condition considering the fragile nature of the form, each with shrinkage crack at mirror surround, other typical scattered cracks and minor repairs to carved ornaments, restorations at some leaf tips, extensive silvering distress to original mirror plates, some flaking to gilding, especially at underside of bobeches
