Stuart Silk Greek Mythological Themed Needlework

British, mid to late 17th century, Aeneas bearing Anchises from burning Troy, worked in silk and metallic thread with some raised work, on cream silk ground, 9-3/8 x 11-5/8 in. (including metallic ribbon border); framed, 12 x 14-1/4 in. 

Note: Typed label verso indicating that the needlework was formerly on loan to the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

Condition:

ribbon border possibly later, fading, silk ground with splits and losses near left border to reveal linen backing, adhered to board
