His First Shave, signed lower left "R.S. Zimmermann", oil on canvas, 20-1/2 x 27-1/2 in.; original gilt wood and composition frame, 30-1/4 x 36-3/4 in.

Note: This painting was acquired by the consignor's parents in 1974 from a collector's home on Providence Road in North Carolina. It is thought that the heavy yellowing from smoke occurred prior to that ownership.

Condition:

small puncture upper right with related paint loss, heavy yellowed varnish, dirt layer, crackle, two small points of possible retouch; frame resurfaced
