Two Tomatoes I, signed lower left "Bert Carpenter 74" and inscribed verso, oil on canvas, 40 x 55-1/2 in.; pine frame 40-1/2 x 56-1/2 in.

Note: Bert Carpenter was an artist and educator. He was educated at Stanford University, the Chouinard Art Institute and the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Paris, France. After teaching at various institutions across the country he became the Chairman of the art department at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. He also was the was Director of the Weatherspoon Gallery, also in Greensboro, from 1974 to 1989.
