Fine Federal Figured and Inlaid Serpentine Chest

American or British, late 18th century, figured mahogany with rich reddish brown color, four deeply serpentine drawers, flanked by canted corners with double bands of herring bone inlay, on original bracket feet, ash and pine secondary, full dust boards, original lion decorated stamped brasses, bails stamped "HJ", finely constructed with dovetails and rosehead nails, 39 x 45 x 22 in.

Provenance:Estate of Aubrey Hancock, Charleston, South Carolina

Condition:

excellent condition overall, original brasses, original feet with minor repairs including one rear bracket ended out 3-1/2 in. and one front side facing pieced 3 in., third drawer with veneer patches at sides, other typical minor surface flaws
