Edgefield Stoneware Storage Jar

possibly attributed to Lewis Miles, Stoney Bluff Manufactory, Horse Creek Valley, Edgefield District, circa 1850s, possibly made by Dave Drake, mottled under fired greenish brown alkaline glaze, bulbous jar form, inscribed "X" at shoulder near one of two applied lug handles, nicely rounded rim, 14 in.
