possibly Shan period, bhumisparsha Buddha with eyes downcast, crossed legs, right hand resting on his knee with his fingers pointing downwards, left hand resting on his lap with his palm facing upwards, sitting on a base with lotus leaf motif, traces of red lacquer and gilt, wood accents, 37-1/2 x 24-1/2 in.; accompanied with copy of invoice from Lek Galleries Art, Bangkok, Thailand, dated May 7, 1998 for 73,000 baht and certificate of authenticity dated May 13, 1998 "Papier mache seated buddha, Shan period, Burma, 17th century"
